Written for

I am a book

With a height of 5 inches

And a width of 4

Fairly thin but not the thinnest

Pages that stick together

Ink that bleeds from tear stains

Pages missing here and there

A brown beaten up leather cover

Starting with “Once upon a time”

Ending mid-word

The type of book that everyone tries to read

They persist through chapters 1 and 2

But by chapter 3

They realize there are other books to allot

Books with language less flowery

And a singular plot

I am a collection of poems

Haiku’s and Ode’s

Written to nature

People and Toads

I speak out of turn

Or rather I write

About my point of view

A fight for my rights

Adjectives and nouns

The only legal love in my story

A pier dusted with sand

And a salty seabreeze sound

Announcing the presence of the sea

She writes

I will write an autobiography

Leather weathered cover

Pages that come with the certainty

Of tears for the years of life

Or rather of not living

And a width of 4

With a height of 5 inches

I am a book
